About the Chat with PDF (AI)

Sometimes you do not need a summary, just one answer: the notice period in a lease, the dosage in a leaflet, the deadline in a grant call. Here you upload a PDF once and ask questions about it in a conversation. The AI is told to answer only from the document and to say plainly when the answer is not in it, rather than guessing.

What you can do

  • Ask a question of up to 2,000 characters about any PDF up to 25 MB.
  • Keep asking follow-ups; earlier questions and answers are sent along so the model understands context like "and what about the second option?".
  • Get answers drawn from the document itself, with a clear "not in the document" when it has nothing to go on.
  • See the estimated credit cost of each question before you send it.

When it works best

  • Finding a specific clause, figure or date in a long contract, manual or report.
  • Checking how a policy handles your situation, such as a refund or cancellation.
  • Studying from lecture notes or a textbook chapter by asking it questions.

Things to know

  • Sign-in with a verified email is required, plus either credits or your own Anthropic or Google API key.
  • The whole PDF is sent to the AI provider with every question, so each question costs about as much as reading the document again.
  • Between questions, your PDF is kept in temporary storage on our server and deleted automatically after about 30 minutes.
  • Answers can still be wrong. For legal, medical or financial decisions, confirm the passage in the PDF yourself.

Frequently asked questions

The model is instructed to answer only from the document and to tell you plainly when the PDF does not cover your question.
