About the Excel to PDF

Spreadsheets are awkward to share with people who only need to read the numbers, and printing them often splits columns across pages. This tool converts an Excel workbook to PDF with LibreOffice on our server, using the page setup saved in the file. Every sheet is included, each starting on its own page, so a whole workbook becomes one document.

What you can do

• Convert both .xlsx workbooks and older .xls files.
• Include every worksheet in one PDF, with longer sheets running over several pages.
• Keep cell formatting, number formats, borders, merged cells and charts as they look in the sheet.
• Respect the print area, orientation and scaling saved in the workbook.
• Download the PDF named after the workbook, so the source file is easy to find later.

When it works best

• Sending an invoice, quote or timesheet built in Excel to a client.
• Sharing a budget or report with people who should not change the figures.
• Attaching a price list or schedule to an email in a format any phone can open.
• Printing a large workbook through a print shop or kiosk that only takes PDF.

Things to know

• Wide sheets without a page setup are split across several pages. Set the print area and "fit to width" in Excel before converting for a cleaner result.
• Formulas are shown as their last calculated values; the PDF does not recalculate anything.
• Hidden sheets are left out, so unhide any sheet you need in the PDF.
• Workbooks up to 25 MB are accepted. After conversion, the PDF sits on the server only for your download link and is cleaned up automatically inside half an hour.
