About the Split PDF

Sometimes one PDF holds several things that need to go to different people: a batch of invoices, a scanned stack of letters, or chapters of a manual. The splitter offers two modes. You can tick the pages you want and get them as a new PDF, or break the whole document into one file per page, delivered together as a zip archive.

What you can do

• Preview every page as a thumbnail before deciding where to cut.
• In selected-pages mode, tick any combination of pages, with Select all and Select none shortcuts, and save them as one PDF.
• In one-file-per-page mode, get every page as its own PDF named after the original, such as report-page-3.pdf.
• Download single-page files together in one .zip instead of dozens of separate downloads.
• Switch between the two modes at any time before you click split, without reloading the file.

When it works best

• Separating a scanned pile of one-page letters or invoices into individual files.
• Sending only the relevant section of a long report.
• Preparing single pages to upload to a system that accepts one page at a time.
• Handing out individual pages of a scanned class register or score sheet to the people they belong to.

Things to know

• Selected pages keep their original order in the new file. To change the order, use Reorder PDF Pages afterwards.
• There is no typed page-range box; pages are chosen by clicking thumbnails, which can take a while on very long documents.
• Encrypted PDFs cannot be read until the password is removed with Unlock PDF.
• Splitting happens on your device; nothing is uploaded.
• The zip download needs a tool that can open .zip files; most phones and computers do this built in.
