About the Extract PDF Pages

When you only need a handful of pages from a long manual, contract or textbook, it is easier to pull those out than to delete everything else. Extracting copies the pages you tick into a brand new PDF and leaves the original file untouched. The copied pages keep their text, links and quality, because they are copied rather than re-rendered.

What you can do

• Tick the pages to keep from a grid of thumbnails, with Select all and Select none to speed things up.
• Save the ticked pages as a new PDF in the order they appear in the original.
• Repeat with a different selection to build several smaller documents from one source.
• The new PDF is named after the source with "-extracted" added, so the original stays recognisable.

When it works best

• Sending only the signature pages of a contract back to the other party.
• Pulling one chapter or worksheet out of a course pack for a class.
• Saving the pages of a bank statement that show the transactions a landlord asked for.
• Creating a short sample from a long brochure or catalogue to send to a customer.

Things to know

• All pages start ticked, so deselect what you do not need, or click Select none and pick from scratch.
• The new file follows the original page order; to rearrange it, open the result in Reorder PDF Pages.
• For a separate file per page, use Split PDF in one-file-per-page mode.
• The extraction runs in your browser and the source file is not uploaded.
• Text, images and links on the copied pages are kept, but bookmarks that point to pages outside your selection are not.
